Vinderne fundet i VIAs fotokonkurrence

Overrasket over andenpladsen

Juryen

Juryen bestod af Anders Nejsum, direktør for animationsfirmaet Mark Film samt ansatte i VIA: Peter Friese, prorektor, Peter Bang Overby, journalist og Hanne Duus, kommunikationsmedarbejder og kunsthistoriker.

English version

And the winner is…

Two Romanian students from VIA in Horsens won first prize in VIAs photo contest, while a student from Teacher Education in Aarhus was the runner up

“It’s original in its message about solidarity and unity. Together we move knowledge. Together we create more knowledge. Knowledge leaves a trace and breeds. The students raise a flag for new knowledge. The photo is original because it’s a paraphrase (on Iwo Jima).” That was the argument from the jury when the winners were handed a gift certificate of 5000 Danish kroner for Apple from VIA’s Pro-Rector Peter Friese.

The two happy winners were Natu Dan Alexandru and Diaconu Alexandru from Romania who are studying Mechanical Engineering at VIA in Horsens as an exchange. They entered the contest where you had to play with VIA’s logo by taking a picture where you used the VIA logo, part of it, or made your own version.

And by asking the question about how they came up with the idea for the winning photo, Natu Dan Alexandru explained:

“I saw a movie about Iwo Jima and thought it could be fun to make a picture on that subject for the photo contest. And therefore Diaconu and I found a hill in Horsens where you could see the prison in the background so you knew it was from Horsens. And then we started taking photos of me in four different positions.”

Diaconu Alexandru smiled and went on:

“And when we got back, I started to photo shop the picture four times so we could get the four positions of Natu in the photo.”

The runner up taken by surprise

While the two Romanians were confident about their victory it was a surprised Elisabeth Thun Madsen from Teacher Education in Aarhus that showed up as the runner up to receive her gift certificate of 2000 Danish kroner for Apple.

“I didn’t expect that at all,” she said spontaneously.

But Peter Friese could tell her that the jury had chosen her photo because of her dogma like picture:

“It’s handheld, authentic and creative. There is a story-teller in the photo. With the writing hand we have a person we can identify us with. It’s a person that leads the way into VIA. It makes it attentive and that is exemplified by the coffee table cloth. We are in somebody’s house.”

And after that argument they all had champagne and celebrated the victory.

The jury

The jury consisted of Anders Nejsum who is the CEO of the animation firm called Mark Film and employees at VIA: Peter Friese, Pro-Rector, Peter Bang Overby, journalist and Hanne Duus, journalist and art historian.

Facts from the contest

69 photos were sent in and the contest begun on 10 January and finished on 28 February which meant it ran for seven weeks.

During the contest, the amount of fans that ‘like’ VIA’s Facebook page more than doubled from 1300 to 2800 fans.

Besides the main prizes, there were seven weekly winners who each of them won a gift certificate of 500 Danish kroner from Adidas. The weekly winner was the person who got the most votes within a week and it was only possible to win a weekly prize within the week you had uploaded your photo.

Due to the many nice and beautiful photos, VIA has decided to use more of them in different marketing material.
